Review

For the last several years there's been a concerted effort among smart phone manufacturers to create worthwhile cameras embedded in their devices. Samsung has flipped that model upside down with a line of Wi-Fi enabled cameras they claim to be the photographic equivalent of a smart phone. The newest in the line, though it's certainly not the best Samsung camera by far, is the WB150F.

The WB150F seems to us to be more of a novelty device then a real high quality camera worth purchasing. On the positive side, its Wi-Fi capabilities allow you to directly upload images to your favorite social networking sites via a hot-spot or public network, upload or transfer while tethered to a smart phone with Internet access, and even connect with other Wi-Fi enabled devices like tablets and laptops. When connected to an iPhone or Android smartphone the camera can even be operated remotely. This handy feature eliminates the need for timers and other tools necessary for taking self-portraits.

As far as the rest of the camera goes, it is adequately functional. Its lower resolution and limited features may not be worth it when you can get some better quality point and shoot cameras for less money. Unless you need the Wi-Fi capability we suggest the WB150F is probably not worth it.

Advantages: built-in Wi-fi capability; small size; plenty of photo manipulation options; decent price.

Disadvantages: low-res video and stills; noise issues under certain lighting conditions; slow shooting and processing performance; Windows-only backup software.

Price and Availability: the WB150F is now available in North America, Europe, Asia, and India; US price: $ 150-$ 239; UK price: £150 - £199
